Ep 55 / Chatting with Nana Food about healthy eating

With each passing day we are more aware of what we buy, what we eat and where each product comes from. In the case of food, it is not only nourishing, but our health is at stake.

We bring Nana Food to the podcast, the project in which Begoña and Pilar have embarked, and which today is overwhelmed by the results. Begoña worked for many years in the food industry as a veterinarian (with a doctorate as she says), and After meeting Pilar in a master's degree, they discovered that the project together was perfect and they embarked as a duo on setting up Nana Food. In his time in the industry he was able to see first-hand how far we are able to go to always have what we want on the table, which is a serious mistake.

The responsibility is of course shared, just as the WHO says we should eat meat 3 times a week maximum, having fruits and vegetables regardless of the season dramatically affects our ecosystem and the natural balance. Because of advertising, because of the desire to eat more, we need, for example, more chicken, and the only way to achieve it is to accelerate its growth, and instead of the 5 months needed for its development, it is achieved in its optimal consumption point in 41 days. There is no magic behind these numbers, and there is a lot of science, feeding the animals with more energetic foods that their stomachs cannot tolerate, that do not consume that energy while stable, and with medications and antibiotics that fight against the diseases that this system entails.

They look for the right farms, hire them as producers, constantly inspect them, and raise the level of organic to the highest possible, which is natural. All their animals are free, and that shows in the flavor, color and quality of everything they sell.

Furthermore, there is something that should make us think more, and that is that we do not know the medium-term consequences of everything we are consuming, from antibiotics to stabilizers or dyes. This podcast is revealing from start to finish, and I recommend you listen to it very carefully and learn. As consumers it is in our power to change things, and it is our responsibility to do so.
