May 2015 / zubis & flowers

Perhaps the most exciting photos of my flower arrangements in almost 20 years were those that emerged from an alignment of several "stars", or perhaps I should call them "stars". And they are: Lucía Marcano's eye, the Zubi sisters' bags and a very special selection of flowers. All this seasoned by the trust of both Lucía, Mer and Elena in my work, and in their ability to let me do it.

The session was not particularly inspiring, from the point of view of the rush, the little time we had, transportation, Madrid traffic, the following meetings, etc. Tremendous stress. Quite the opposite of what one would expect would be the perfect atmosphere to create photographs like these with friends - in my imagination a Bach sonata would be playing, we would be drinking champagne, the views would be of a garden and a light breeze would blow... and Of course it would be spring! -. But there was none of this, I can assure you.

I remember the excitement when we met to see Lucia's photos. I couldn't believe that this had come out of my hands. Even today I think that some fairies came to help me, without me realizing it. The light, the color, the fabrics, the accessories on the table - which seem to have fallen out of the landscape of the bag -, the reflection in the mirrors, the texture of the flowers... MAGIC.

And sometimes, like this time, magic is created in the most unexpected way.
