Ep 43 / Chatting with Nacho Aguayo about his life experience in fashion and the importance of values
Like every week, at zubi we bring you a very interesting podcast. This time it was the turn of Nacho Aguayo, Creative Director of the women's division of Pedro del Hierro and Cortefiel. With him, we have talked about his professional career – worthy of leaving anyone with their mouths open – about work-life balance and the importance of having good values in life.
Nacho knew from a young age that he wanted to be a fashion designer, something for which he considers himself very lucky. One of his personal riches is his experiences since he has moved a lot and life has taken him to very interesting places. He has worked with professionals such as Felipe Varela, with whom he did his first internship, or Carmen March, who was the person who gave him his first professional opportunity and whom he considers “family.” He has lived halfway around the world. She spent 2 years in New York, where she took a Haute Couture course and worked for Badgley Mischka. His professional background has been extensive, as he has worked for both industrial production companies and custom firms, something that led him to finally open his own workshop. He spent 5 years with this project and decided to close it since it prevented him from reconciling his professional life with his personal life, something that is of vital importance to him. After this period, important professional opportunities arose for him, becoming Creative Director of the women's part of CH Carolina Herrera. He was there until his current position landed.
We have talked about the great breadth of the world of fashion and the positive message it wants to give to all the people who want to enter it. We have also talked about the sacrifice and determination involved in dedicating yourself to this profession and the importance of surrounding yourself with good people who understand your vision and your way of working. At an industrial level, he is very aware of the importance of sustainability in fashion and of using production processes that create less waste, a path along which he leads Cortefiel hand in hand.
A very enriching podcast in all aspects and that makes us reflect. We leave you with him.
