Ep 62 / Chatting with Leti Canales about surfing the crest of the wave
Leti Canales is very young, but like all professional athletes, she has already experienced the same thing as me, who is almost twice her age. His life is professional surfing and he travels all over the planet competing in places that we normal workers only dream about, and living a nomadic life that we envy in front of the computer screen. Of course, not everything is rosy, and at that level talent is never enough, but rather the hard work and perseverance that she carries as standard in her own home in the Basque Country.
From a very young age, along with her twin sister Loiola, she combined field hockey and surfing, while dreaming of the Olympics to which she may finally be able to attend in Tokyo, since they have introduced surfing as an Olympic sport. Her progression was dazzling until an injury stopped her completely and made her rethink who she was and who she wanted to be, and above all, it helped her to live consciously, savor the details and enjoy the triumphs. She works daily, both body and mind so that nothing stops her when the time comes and she enjoys each step to the fullest.
4 years ago it seemed impossible to reach today, when after the injury she caught her first wave to enjoy, and right now she is competing in Australia where today she is number 70 in the world (and 15th in the Europeans) and climbing the rankings by championship, every day we go to the official website to see what position she is in and enjoy the videos of those waves that she surfs as she pleases.
Thank you Leti for making time in your agenda and stopping by zubi to give you a big hug. Luck is already with you and we are happy to see it very close to you.
