Ep 70 / Chatting with Andrea Caruso Dalmas about good design applied to retail

It is always a good time to talk about good design, and that is Andrea Caruso Dalmas, who is 50% of the design and interior design studio. Ciszak Dalmas together with Alberto Gobbino Ciszak knows a lot, a lot.

The truth is that being from Turin and training in product design, we can say that good taste came as standard, but if you also cultivate it by working for large, established brands such as Artemide or Cappellini, it seems that your path will be directed in that direction. But after designing a cart for the I Owe You store in Madrid to display products, they fell in love with not only making products to sell but also with spaces that helped them express what those products were, and the brand that designed them.

Their alliance with Matteo Ferrari took them up the scale, until they reached a building now waiting to resume. And together they appear on AD's list of this year's best designers.

It is clear that they enjoy designing retail, for them it is just another design, with the same keys in which to mix technique and sensations, but with a component that they value at every step of the conversation, the human. The client, the people who work and the buyers are the reason for their work. We have talked about how they set out to design a store, about routes, about objectives... and about one of their favorite parts of the process, the materials.

We loved his attitude towards the project, rigorous, with a lot of listening and understanding but at the same time wanting to have fun and investigate. The materials they create for their works are the product of research, since what is just choosing materials? Much more interesting to think about what you want to transmit and create something that expresses it from nothing.

The change in retail began a year ago with the emergence of digital, and stores must now be much more. They must be a special, recognizable place, where things happen that are radiated to the world, where the brand is centralized and its values are expressed and towards the future.

It's a luxury to have Andrea on Chatting with Zubi, we are sure you will love the podcast.
